Circumbinary Habitable Zones in the Presence of a Giant Planet

چکیده
Determining habitable zones in binary star systems can be a challenging task due to the combination of perturbed planetary orbits and varying stellar irradiation conditions. The concept “dynamically informed zones” allows us, nevertheless, make predictions on where look for worlds such complex environments. Dynamically have been used past investigate habitability circumstellar planets Earth-like analogs with giant planets. Here, we extend potentially circumbinary orbits. We show that zone borders found analytically even when another planet is present system. By applying this methodology Kepler-16, Kepler-34, Kepler-35, Kepler-38, Kepler-64, Kepler-413, Kepler-453, Kepler-1647, Kepler-1661 demonstrate presence known majority those does not preclude existence worlds. Among investigated Kepler-64 currently seem offer most benign environment. In contrast, Kepler-16 Kepler-1647 are unlikely host

Exotic Earths: forming habitable worlds with giant planet migration.
Close-in giant planets (e.g., "hot Jupiters") are thought to form far from their host stars and migrate inward, through the terrestrial planet zone, via torques with a massive gaseous disk. Here we simulate terrestrial planet growth during and after giant planet migration. Several-Earth-mass planets also form interior to the migrating jovian planet, analogous to recently discovered "hot Earths....
متن کاملEvolution of a Habitable Planet
■ Abstract Giant planets have now been discovered around other stars, and it is only a matter of time until Earth-sized planets are detected. Whether any of these planets are suitable for life depends on their volatile abundances, especially water, and on their climates. Only planets within the liquid-water habitable zone (HZ) can support life on their surfaces and, thus, can be analyzed remote...
متن کاملEmergence of a Habitable Planet
We address the first several hundred million years of Earth’s history. The Moonforming impact left Earth enveloped in a hot silicate atmosphere that cooled and condensed over ∼1,000 yrs. As it cooled the Earth degassed its volatiles into the atmosphere. It took another ∼2 Myrs for the magma ocean to freeze at the surface. The cooling rate was determined by atmospheric thermal blanketing. Tidal ...
متن کاملTrojans in habitable zones.
With the aid of numerical experiments we examined the dynamical stability of fictitious terrestrial planets in 1:1 mean motion resonance with Jovian-like planets of extrasolar planetary systems. In our stability study of the so-called "Trojan" planets in the habitable zone, we used the restricted three-body problem with different mass ratios of the primary bodies. The application of the three-b...
متن کاملKepler-16: a transiting circumbinary planet.
We report the detection of a planet whose orbit surrounds a pair of low-mass stars. Data from the Kepler spacecraft reveal transits of the planet across both stars, in addition to the mutual eclipses of the stars, giving precise constraints on the absolute dimensions of all three bodies. The planet is comparable to Saturn in mass and size and is on a nearly circular 229-day orbit around its two...
